Their victory follows a competitive selection process that began with preliminary rounds in December 2025, followed by the national finals in January 2026. The team then outperformed competitors from 21 Sub-Saharan African countries during the regional finals held in Kampala on March 5, 2026.

Arinda Ronnie Akantorana, Public Relations Manager at Huawei Technologies Uganda, praised the achievement, describing it as a reflection of strong academic training and mentorship.

“This achievement is a testament to the high standard of education and technical training at Mountains of the Moon University. It is a source of pride for the academic community and an inspiration to other students,” he said.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pius Coxwell Achanga, also commended the team, noting that such platforms are critical for developing digital skills and nurturing innovation.
